EP# 04 - Jordan Peele’s ‘NOPE’, Barbarian, and Phoenix Suns Predictions

Yet Another Episode of FILM FRAT PODCAST, this time, at the new crib!

With a new setting comes new topics.

Alex and Curtis share stories and their experiences after attending the “Night to Remember'' event, hosted by Arizona Filmmakers. From the insanely gorgeous venue to the amazing outfits shown, the event held up to its name.

The boys have been busy lately, watching different films and diving deep into critiquing and digesting each film. One of which happens to be Jordan Peele’s highly anticipated ‘NOPE’. The “grand” feeling of the film accompanied by a simplistic set of actors and locations makes for a MUST WATCH experience, especially in theaters. Do we recommend it? “YUP”.

Switching genres, Curty and Alejo find themselves sitting down through a run-time of 2 hours and 6 minutes to watch ‘Bullet Train’, a quirky, action packed film that was absolutely carried by the cast, performance, and fight choreography. Just like the expansive list of characters, the boys think of an expansive list of reasons why it was a fun watch. Gather yourself some homies, crack open some seltzers (alcoholic or not), and enjoy the wild train ride.

‘Barbarian’ was definitely… an experience. Shoutout to McKenzie for recommending this one, it was a barbaric experience to say the least. Overall a solid watch, but the ending might be somewhat lackluster. The unsettling moments in this film definitely make an impression and Justin Long’s performance added that extra “umph” that created a break within the plot.

Let’s take some time to appreciate Dylan Clark for their short film, “Portrait of God’. The 7-minute film feels like a 90-minute experience that keeps you invested the whole way through. The potential that this short film has to become a full-fledged feature is almost as big as Curtis’ love for the project.

One of the most anticipated additions to the MCU has just been announced in the most “Deadpool” way imaginable. Ryan Reynolds takes to social media to reveal that his best friend, Hugh Jackman, will be joining him in Deadpool 3. Alex and Curtis discuss some of the theories that people have been making on how Deadpool and Wolverine will join Earth 616’s extensive list of heroes.

The Avengers of the dark-rap genre came out to AZ to provide an unforgettable experience. $NOT, $uicideboy$, and Ski Mask the Slump God all teamed up to bless the Phoenix Raceway but the walk to the venue was as long as the performance.

The 2022-2023 NBA season is right around the corner, which marks Zion Williamson’s 3rd year as a rookie. This year will be full of redemption stories, revenge arcs, and heroes & villains. The Suns play the Dallas Mavericks their first game, a very important and much needed rematch.
